The new Fortuna Community Health and Wellness Center replaces three existing offices located in the vicinity of Redwood Memorial Hospital and the subject site, and more than doubles the capacity to serve Fortuna area residents, bringing services to the community not currently available. This 32,070 s.f. two-story OSHPD 3 health center provides comprehensive primary medical care in a team-based environment that includes providers, nurses, laboratory, case management and referral support, dental care, and behavioral health services.

​​​​​​​The building makes use of sustainable design and fixtures, including motion-sensitive lighting controls, natural light and operable windows, no-flush urinals, low-flush toilets, and low-flow showerheads and faucets. The project is located on five acres, including a relocated wetland, walking path, and community garden. Native drought resistant landscaping further decreases use of water, and pervious paving materials and landscape swales allow natural drainage and collection and reduces storm water runoff.
