Regent Healthcare Surgery Center of Georgetown

Georgetown, TX

This new 19,000 s.f. specialty ASC emerged to cater to the massive growth in Georgetown, Texas, one of the fastest-growing cities in the state. In collaboration with Ascension, the project aims to introduce new services to a burgeoning community, filling a critical need for expanded healthcare offerings.

The ASC features four operating rooms and three procecedure rooms. With a focus on both orthopedic and gastrointestinal services, the design incorporates two distinct sterile processing units to maintain the highest standards of infection control: a traditional sterile processing department for operating rooms and a separate scope processing unit equipped with medivators for GI rooms. A dedicated back corridor facilitates the movement of scopes without cross-traffic, ensuring a sterile environment.

The ASC sits within an all-electric infrastructure that eliminates the use of gas within the building. Despite the challenges posed by retrofitting an existing structure not initially intended for such use, the project team successfully navigated the constraints of limited floor-to-floor heights and structural reinforcement requirements to create a state-of-the-art ASC within a former urgent care clinic.

The new HCAHPS evaluation system informed the architectural design, which will gauge patient impressions of their healthcare environment. With this in mind, the project utilizes materials that are not only functional but also aesthetically pleasing, enhancing the overall patient experience.
