Sutter Medical Foundation Internal Medicine and Urgent Care Suite
Roseville, CA
This project relocates services off of Sutter’s main campus, allowing expansion and growth opportunities for internal medicine and urgent care. This serves the dual purpose of providing patients with access away from the bustling hospital campus and freeing up the previous buildings for other needs.
The facility is comprised of internal medicine and urgent care, along with allergy and lab services, and a dedicated respiratory care unit, which doubles as a COVID clinic. The clinic’s irregular “L” shaped interior challenged the design team to create a robust wayfinding system to assist patients in moving through the space. Staff areas are designed to bring daylight into work zones, creating a pleasant working environment.
Challenges and Innovation
The project utilized a design/build contract, employing a standard bank of Lean tools to streamline the construction process. Through a series of scope changes, including the addition of allergy, decontamination, and an IT closet, the team successfully coordinated to meet the client’s requirements.
