This 96-bed Skilled Nursing Facility was developed to bring a new take on a post-acute care facility. The client’s vision was for a place where patients are not long-term residents, but individuals looking to recover and get back to a normal healthy lifestyle in a setting more like at a refined getaway retreat rather than a typical rehabilitation center.

​​​​​​​Situated on an urban medical campus that was formerly an Air Force base, the building’s exterior reflects that past with an industrial sophistication. Inside, the facility has a contemporary housing feel with high end finishes. Reuse materials, including the metal ceilings, and a warm neutral palette interspersed with vibrant pops of color evoke the character of an urban loft. Welcoming, inviting, social spaces for the patients was a key design goal, one that was met by a dining area feels like a cozy restaurant and the lounge spaces contain lush and comfortable décor. This 76,700 s.f. facility also houses a therapy gym, a large therapy garden, an ADL suite, and a salon.
